Gaziantep Bakırcılar Bazaar consist of a complex of bazaars where many handicraft craftsmen produce and offers us sections from another period with its wooden covered shops and store streets. The exact date of the shops in Bakırcılar Bazaar is not known. It is thought to built in 19th century. You can find organic products, souvenirs, herbal soaps, house supplies etc.
It is one of the most beautiful examples of Ottoman bath architecture and culture. It serves as a bath section of complex built by Lala Mustafa Pasha. It was built in 1577. Its restoration was completed by Gaziantep Metropolian Munucipality in 2015 and it was transformed into museum. In the bath there is cold, warm and hot sections, hammam tools and equpments from Haluk Perk collection, hammam customs, wax sculptures and models.
It is one of the most beautiful examples of castles in Turkey. There is no definite information about when and who is was made. It is known that it was founded on a mound which history dates back to 6000 years ago and Chalcolithic period. And there was a small city called ‘’Theban’’ around the castle in 2nd -3rd century AD. It is understood by archeological excavations that this castle was first built as a watchtower in Roman period and expanded over time. It took its current form in 6th century AD during the reign of Byzantine Emperor Justinian. There are 12 towers on castle.
The museum is very important for art historians, archeologists and anybody who interested in history and art. The museum has a big variety and attractiveness for all visitors. It is known as one of the largest mosaic museums in the world with both its size and area covered by mosaics. There are examples from churches of Late Antiquity and Early Syrian and Christian iconography. Also it is possible that we can see statues, fountains and columns from Roman Period. When the area, which called Selevkos Euphrathes before, came under Roman rule in 64 BC, its name was changed with ‘’Zeugma’’ meaning bridgehead. One of the most prominent works in museum that Maenad from 2nd century AD. On this technique is referred as there-quarter gaze in Hellenistic Period.
